This month, the celebration of the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation in our Idente parishes of St. Luke’s in Brentwood, Our Lady of Loretto in Hempstead, and Our Lady of Solace/St. Dominic in the Bronx have been completed. The Mother Church received for the first time children, who lived the exquisite experience of receiving Christ and teens in their confirmation of the faith. Families gathered in this great celebration, proud and joyful that their children have taken on an important stage in their lives, and that they are growing evermore in the truth.
During these celebrations, the desire to be an apostle was greatly emphasized and was directed especially to the parents and godparents, who are the ones who encouraged their children and godchildren to embark on the spiritual journey, with the vision of being received by the arms of the Heavenly Father.
A year of preparation for children receiving First Communion has concluded in the participation of two big activities. In the Bronx, a gathering for families and students was organized to give out certificates of appreciation and achievement in catechism. In Hempstead, children gathered for a field day led by young volunteers and members of Idente Youth. The youth of the parish who already completed their year of preparation also participated in the field day and in the family retreat.
Congratulations to all the children, youth, and adults that shared with great joy this new experiences of life with Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
