Trisagio
Fernando Rielo, Founder of the Idente Missionaries, wrote that the “Idente Rosary” possesses the form of a trisagio. The word trisagio comes from Greek and means ‘thrice holy’. It thus signifies a hymn dedicated to the Most Holy Trinity. On reciting it in three consecutive sequences, we testify to three basic truths.
Trisagio of Mary
In the Trisagio of Mary the invocations refer to the three basic truths which adorn Mary as Daughter of the Father, Mother of the Word, and Spouse of the Holy Spirit.
- In the first sequence, with the first Our Father, three Hail Marys, and Glory Be, in Mary, the Father’s beloved Daughter, we glorify the holiness of the Father, praying to Him for the holiness of humanity.
- In the second sequence, with the second Our Father, three Hail Marys, and Glory Be, in Mary, the Mother of Christ, we glorify the holiness of the Son, praying to Him for the holiness of the Church.
- In the third sequence, with the third Our Father, three Hail Marys, and Glory Be, in Mary, the Mystical Spouse of the Holy Spirit, we glorify the holiness of the Holy Spirit, praying to Him for our own holiness.
The Trisagio is thus a hymn of praise uplifted to the Most Holy Trinity by means of the supplicatory omnipotence of our Heavenly Mother. It is a mystical hymn bringing us to exclaim in words evoking eternity: Holy is the Father; Holy is the Son; and Holy is the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
so that we may be saints.
Trisagio of Joseph
The Trisagio of Joseph involves reciting an Our Father, three Hail Josephs, and a Glory Be in three consecutive sequences.
- In the first sequence, with the first Our Father, three Hail Josephs, and Glory Be, in Joseph, the Mystical Son of the Father, we glorify the holiness of the Father, praying to Him for the holiness of humanity.
- In the second sequence, with the second Our Father, three Hail Josephs, and Glory Be, in Joseph, Mystical Father of Christ, we glorify the holiness of the Son, praying to Him for the holiness of the Church.
- In the third sequence, with the third Our Father, three Hail Josephs, and Glory Be, in Joseph, the Friend of the Holy Spirit, we glorify the holiness of the Holy Spirit, praying to Him for our own holinesss.
Hail Joseph
Hail Joseph, Husband of Mary,
to whom Jesus, called Christ, was born,
blessed are you, the Just Man who believed,
and blessed is the Messiah you watched over as a Son.
Most Holy Joseph,
Mystical Father of God,
pray for us sinners,
so that we may be saints.
