On the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Idente brother Rueangdet Sombunphunphoem, the current acting superior of Thailand, was ordained deacon by the bishop of the diocese of Chiang Rai, Most Rev. Joseph Wutthilert Haelom, who was replacing the bishop of Chiangmai, who was in Italy to accompany a commission of Buddhist monks on their visit to the Holy Father and to attend the World Meeting of Families.
The ceremony took place in the Cathedral of Chiangmai, which is under the patronage of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and three deacons were ordained: one Missionary Idente, and two members of the Betharram Missionaries.
Superiors of both institutions were present at the ordination. The Procurator General of Idente Missionaries Fernando Real, arrived from New York and addressed a few words to the new deacons, encouraging them in this path of service to Christ and his church, which encourages and enriches the love of the Holy Trinity, living the joy of the one who gives everything.
For this event many people came from all over Chiangmai. The family of Idente confrere was present: his mother and a sister who is also a religious, uncles, brothers, aunts, uncles and sisters.
The next day a Mass of thanksgiving was celebrated in the church of Divine Mercy which is run by the Idente Missionaries. The Procurator General spoke to us about the dedication and obedience that we see in the life of new deacon Rueangdet, who allowed himself to be made by Providence by generously following the path that was opening before him.
