On the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, June 25, 2022, Jinwoo Michael Nam, M.Id, was ordained deacon by our first Idente Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Luis Miguel Romero, M.Id., auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre. The parish of Our Lady of Loretto in Hempstead hosted this joyful event that included friends and parishioners from all the other three parishes entrusted to the Idente Missionaries in New York (Santa Maria, Bronx; Our Lady of Solace/St. Dominic’s, Bronx; and Saint Luke’s, Brentwood, Long Island). The rector of Saint Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers (the seminary where Deacon Michael completed his priestly studies), His Excellency Most Rev. James Massa, was also present along with two newly ordained priests and two permanent deacons from the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Deacon Michael’s family and friends in Korea were able to follow the Holy Mass through the live-stream. The ordination was followed by a reception where family and parishioners willingly expressed their well wishes to the newly ordained deacon.

Deacon Michael shared this sentiment:

I thank our Heavenly Father for having guided and empowered me through the Idente charism. It is indeed by His victorious and miraculous work in me that I have persevered through the action of so many people. I thank Him, for He will continue to guide me to be an instrument of His unconditional fatherly love. Just as Bishop Luis Miguel Romero spoke in his homily about the permanent service of deacons, I would like to be an authentic servant of God and of His people, always ready to glorify Him.
