On Divine Mercy Sunday, an Idente Missionary from Thailand, Rueangdet Sombunphunphoem, M.Id received the Ministry of the Acolyte from the hands of the bishop of the diocese of Chiangmai in the Church of the Divine Mercy. The liturgical celebration presided over by His Excellency Most Rev. Francis Xavier Weera Apornrat was a beautiful moment for the entire catholic community and other friends in the neighbourhood. During the ceremony, Bishop Weera thanked our brother Rueangdet, for his fidelity to Christ, and the community of missionaries, who nourish and animate the faith in this diocese.

The Divine Mercy Church located in Chiangmai, in the district of Saraphi, next to the residences of the missionaries, was opened three years ago by the President of Idente Missionaries, Jesus Fernandez Hernandez. After two years of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was a great joy for parishioners, Idente Family and friends to celebrate the parish feast together that also included brother Rueangdet’s Ministry of Acolyte. His family traveled the day before from their village to accompany him on this occasion. Friends, who reside mountains villages, also came down to the district to attended the ceremony. Staff and students from the Wiang Papao Chiang Rai School, where the Idente Missionaries are serving, were also present during the liturgy. From very early in the morning, parishioners and members of the Idente Family came to help in the final preparations, which including food to be shared with those attending the ceremony, as is customary in Thailand on these occasions. There was an atmosphere of joy and gratitude for being able to celebrate together once again the parish feast and the Ministry of Acolyte of an Idente brother.
