In our parish San Alberto Hurtado in Santiago de Chile, during the whole month of November, various celebrations of baptisms, marriages, first communions and confirmations have taken place.

The two first communion groups were very numerous: 70 children prepared in the Pumahue School, and another 20 in the same parish, who culminated with their families the “family catechesis”; a process of two years where parents and children have been accompanied by the catechists of the parish, persevering in the knowledge of the message of Christ and in the importance of this sacrament.

The celebration was very beautiful, in a church embellished by white flowers, a sign of the purity of the heart with which the children received this sacrament. Both parents and children gave testimony of the importance of the process in their life of union with God and thanked the catechists and the whole parish for their dedication and company.

On the other hand, four adults received confirmation in front of the entire parish community. The vicar of the eastern zone, p. Manuel Paz, representative of the archbishop of Santiago, card. Ricardo Ezzatti, went to confer the sacrament. The ceremony was held in a very intimate, family atmosphere and with the presence of the children who are preparing to receive confirmation next year.

We trust that with the help of the Holy Spirit and community work, our parish will be able to continue forming followers of Christ, who live and transmit the Gospel in their own homes and environments.
