On the afternoon of Easter Sunday, the Idente missionaries from the coast, highlands and jungle of Peru met to celebrate the Risen Christ through a colorful and particular artistic meeting online.
The time of quarantine has allowed people from all over the country to come together. It is the first time that a meeting like this has taken place and it has had as a sign that joy that our founder, Fernando Rielo, always encouraged us to live: “I ask God that the members of the Institution be characterized by joy, a joy in all things that is not like the fleeting joys of this world. I want them to grow in that mystical joy to such a degree that they see the earth from heaven and not heaven from earth.
From the jungle, in the warm city of Iquitos, our sisters presented the play “Capuchino and Lola”, the story of a little monkey and a cow that find each other in the middle of the Iquitos jungle in times of quarantine. From the mountains, in the valley of the city of Abancay, our sisters and brothers presented reflections, poetry and a friendly competition of riddles.
A few hours from Abancay is the Imperial city of Cusco, from where our sisters delighted us with their own creations of poetry, acrostics and some peculiar jokes. From the coast, in Lima, the city of Kings, our sisters and brothers offered poetry like freshly baked bread, the fruit of a personal encounter with Christ, through moments of prayer, and a small but very pleasant musical of encouragement and true hope in the face of the difficult moments that our very dear humanity is going through.
This time distance has united us in an artistic, fraternal and Easter encounter.
