With the words of Christ echoing in their hearts — “I was in prison and you came to visit me” (Mt 25:36) — a group of parents from the Idente Family carried out an outreach mission to the Women’s Dormitory of Meycauayan City Jailon April 12, 2025.
A MESSAGE OF HOPE BEHIND BARS
There, they met with 59 women inmates, bringing not only material presence, but a powerful message of spiritual renewal. The group performed a 15-minute play on the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, proclaiming the joy of Easter: the love of Christ, who gave His life so that all may find new hope and a new beginning.
After the play, the women were divided into small groups. Each received a handwritten card with a personal message of hope and encouragement. These moments of encounter moved many to tears, as they were reminded of Christ’s unconditional love — even in the face of their pasts.
FREEDOM IS DEFINED BY WHAT LIVES WITHIN OUR HEARTS
“For all of us,” said one participant, “it was a timely reminder that freedom is not defined by the walls that surround us, but by what lives within our hearts. With Christ, we can find peace and even joy, no matter the circumstances.” Another reflected: “We were reminded that the justice of God — full of mercy and compassion — is very different from the justice of the world.”
The visit concluded with a heartfelt exchange of songs. The group sang two songs for the inmates, who responded joyfully with two lively song-and-dance performances. A beautiful sign of shared humanity and the freedom that surpasses physical walls.
This outreach was not only a gift for those visited, but also for those who came to serve — a true celebration of faith in action.
